USG is helping to meet the needs of a growing world and preserve natural resources by taking back approved ceiling panels from any manufacturer and recycling them into new building products. |
Recycling is:
The right thing.
Recycling reduces waste and relieves pressure on overburdened landfills. Incorporating renovation waste into new building products can also slow the rate at which raw materials are extracted from the land.
Efficient.
In the time required to haul small loads of old panels to the waste container, workers can palletize panels as they are removed.
Cost-effective.
Panels can be palletized about as quickly as they are hauled and loaded into waste containers. And, recycling reduces container and landfill fees.
Valued.
Participation in the USG ceilings recycling program can help a project qualify for LEED credits.
How it works:
This program is fast, easy and cost effective. Just follow these simple steps...
1. Verify that the panels are recyclable.
We can accept mineral-fiber ceiling products for recycling. Material must be clean, dry and approved by USG. No wood, metal or construction debris of any kind is permitted. Panels must not have come into contact with any hazardous material that requires special handling or disposal.
2. Stack the panels.
Instead of hauling and loading old panels into a waste container, stack them neatly on shipping pallets. When a pallet is full, simply wrap it with plastic and set aside for pickup by a local USG distributor or designated carrier.
3. Contact USG for pickup.
We’ll arrange and pay to haul away the old panels. Just be sure to have a full truckload (30,000 square feet), and call your local USG representative at least five days before pickup is required. If you cannot fill a truck, additional options are available. Our goal is to prevent recyclable materials from being discarded into landfills.
The USG ceilings recycling program makes it easy to help protect the environment and still stay on schedule and on budget.
